Parks
There are several beautiful parks worth visiting in El Salvador. Unfortunately, the government has not done much to preserving the natural resources of the country and trees have been cut down or burned. The following list has some of the nicest and most popular parks.
El Trifinio National Park
El Trifinio National Park is a beautiful park in the northwestern part of El
Salvador. Its name is derived from the fact that its located where El Salvador,
Guatemala and Honduras meet. It is up on mountaineous terrain so be prepared and
do bring some warm clothes. An SUV is a wise vehicle to drive since the road is
not paved and becomes muddy when it rains.
This park is very rich in natural resources. Various orchids enrich explorations
along pathways as rare types are revealed. From a clown orchid to a kissing tree,
this park proves itself to be extraordinary by lending itself to the romantic
couple, picnicing family, solitude seeker or adventurer.
Cerro Verde National Park
This park used to have a hotel that was built for tourist to watch the majestic volcano of
Izalco. This volcano was called the "lighthouse of the Pacific" because there was
a constant activity in its crater that could be seen by the ships as they approached the
Salvadoran coast. Shortly after the construction of the hotel ended, however, the volcano's activity stopped. Nevertheless, this does not take much away from the volcano with its peculiar perfectly conical shape.
