El Arbol De Dios

Although there has been a surge in art galleries lately, this is the most famous of them all. It is owned by the most well known Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort. His style resembles that of Miro with a touch of Picasso and that Salvadoran essence. Llort studied grew up in El Salvador and has studied in Europe and the United States. He is responsible for fathering the artistic development of the town of La Palma in Chalatenango.

In this gallery, you will find from original paintings to signed lithographies, towels, souvenirs and even a pupuseria. La Palma

La Palma is a small village located in the northern part of El Salvador in the department of Chalatenango. This village has the highest elevation of El Salvador and was taken by the FMLN during the civil war in the 80s. The artistic talent of the people in this village was awakened by Fernando Llort during the 70s. At only one and a half hours away from San Salvador, it is now a fun place to go to escape from the hot months and to see different wooden crafts with very colorful decorations. Alfredo Linares is another well-known Salvadoran artist. His gallery is located in La Palma and his style consists mostly of water color paintings. In his gallery, you may find original paintings and lithographies.

Taller Encuentros

Taller Encuentros was founded by artist Miguel Angel Ramirez as a way to promote art and help low income children to learn to express themselves through art. It is located in the beautiful city of Panchimalco in an old but beautifully decorated house with extravagant gardens. The garden consists of multiple levels and students get to move to higher levels as they progress in their artistic abilities. The top level is where Miguel Angel Ramirez paints. He is known for painting faces of children but also has abstracts and nudes in his repertoire. This is a must see place. It is visited by people from all over the world who appreciate art and Miguel Angel's dream to open the minds of young children to the world of art.
